John Gerrard and Richie Hawtin, both pioneers in their respective fields, have come together to create a unique art experience combining advanced digital simulation, original techno composition and artificial intelligence. The resulting work - infini.1.iridescent.stream - becomes a minutely conceived and specified ‘techno room’ in which audiences are immersed in a unified musical and visual artwork for sitting, watching, listening and dancing. It is a space for optimism and dreaming, alone or together.

infin1.iridescent.stream is a new solar simulation by John Gerrard. In the simulation, a meticulously recreated digital portrait of an iridescent female d‘Albertis python performs ouroboros in a figure of eight, biting her tail whilst addressing the audience, on the hour throughout a 24 hour day, across the solar year with seasonal variation.
Ouroboros, a Gnostic and alchemical symbol expresses the unity of all things, material and spiritual, and the eternal cycle of destruction and rebirth. In nature, iridescence is used both to attract potential mates and to repel likely predators. The snake is uncannily present and gazing at us, from her own virtual world.
Gerrard has commissioned techno legend Richie Hawtin to create a score responding to the snake. This will be AI driven in partnership with bronze.ai.
The simulation unfolds over an orbit of one year with variation across night and day and seasonally. These variations centre on heat and can be imagined as a colour, from blue at night for cooler temperatures to red orange in the day for warmth.
The premiere of infini.1.iridescent.stream was held in Paris, for a month, late 2021 at the Hôtel de Coulanges, a magnificent 17th century palace in the heart of the Marais quarter. 3537.org is a new physical and digital site for experimental artistic projects hosted by Dover Street Market/Comme des Garcons.

At its core is a high resolution LED wall in dialogue with a sculptural speaker stack.
